JEBB – Young Commitment Builds Bridges

Project duration: 1 December 2013 – 30 November 2015

In connection with this programme, young people between the ages of 14 and 26 had the opportunity to implement their ideas on the topics of “integration” and “inter-culturality” in the form of small projects. In the process, the project groups (at least two people) were given advice and support from project planning to project execution. To help make the project a reality, young people received up to EUR 500 per project. The programme’s target group was young people with and without migration background who live in the rural area of eastern Saxony. With this project, young people were given the opportunity to actively participate in society.

At the same time, a working group was initiated called “Participation for and with young migrants”. The working group consists of representatives from four migrant associations, as well as interested local sponsors of youth work. The aim of the working group is to promote the exchange of information and experiences and to provide mutual support in order collectively to advance the development of participatory structures in migrant organisations. Young people are trained in the area of project management and provided with advice and support on a continual basis. Seminars on methods of participatory youth work are conducted for the volunteer workers in migrant associations. Young migrants are introduced to the structures of youth work, and migrant associations obtain important expertise so as to be able to support young people as a competent partner.

The programme was sponsored by Aktion Mensch.
