Youth league work for all

A new three-year integration project of djo-Deutsche Jugend in Europa, Landesverband Sachsen e.V.

Project duration: 1 October 2014 – 30 September 2017

In early October 2014, the djo-Landesverband Sachsen launched a new integration project called “Youth league work for all” in order to encourage young people with migration experience who live in the district of Bautzen and its surroundings to get involved with volunteer work, as well as to promote their active participation in social life.

The project gives young people the opportunity to make their own ideas a reality, to participate more strongly in society, and to develop civic commitment. By participating in workshops in the areas of experiential, media, or dance education, they can get to know other young, committed people from the area and exchange ideas and experiences with them. At informational events and low-threshold educational offerings, young people and their parents obtain valuable knowledge about issues relevant to young people and become acquainted with the opportunities that youth league work offers them. By including parents, the djo-Landesverband Sachsen seeks to make them aware of the importance of informal learning and volunteer work. In addition, young people will develop their own project ideas and make them a reality in the form of small projects, as well as obtain skills in connection with advance training offerings of the djo-Landesverband Sachsen so that they can become youth group leaders or multipliers of youth league work.

The project is being conducted by the djo-Landesverband Sachsen in collaboration with the associations Leuchtturm-Majak e.V. in Bautzen and Haus der Begegnung e.V. in Kamenz, as well as with committed young people and parents from Bischofswerda. Furthermore, an active network of organisations performing youth league work is being created at the interface of youth work and parent counselling in order to strengthen the social participation of young people with a migrant background and their parents who live in the district of Bautzen and its surroundings.
